Chuck Norris vs the UNSC: Part Two

Apr. 9 4:26 PM by Dylan Duarte

"All teams," Master Chief spoke into his radio, "be on guard. Something is out there." It had been nearly ten minutes since the last transmission from Raven and he hadn't been able to contact her since. There was always the chance that something was wrong with her radio, but Master Chief wasn't getting his hopes up. He stood on top of a hill that overlooked the jungle below. He could see miles of thick treetops, but nothing below them. He wished Cortana was with him, but she was plugged into The Pillar of Autumn, orbiting above the planet. There was no telling what was out there in the jungle.

"Chief, come in." It was Echo.

I read you, Echo."

We found the recon team we sent out earlier. They're dead and their warthog is torn apart."

"What do you mean torn apart?"

"I mean torn apart. The windshield is ripped out. The passenger door is torn off its hinges. One of the rear wheels is almost 100 feet away. I've never seen Covenant do this."

"Alright, Echo. Keep your eyes open and get back here." Not two seconds after he holstered his radio, Master Chief felt another tremor.

"Echo, did you feel that?"

"Feel it?! I can't get to my feet! It's right here!"

"Echo, do you see anything?" After a moment with no response and more tremors, the Chief got back on the radio.

"Echo, do you copy?!"

"Chief," Echo responded, "You aren't gonna believe this."

"Believe what, Echo? The Chief was shouting now. He received no response.

"Echo?" Still nothing. The tremors stopped. Chief put his radio down and hastily ran down the hill towards camp. He approached a group of marines gathered around a mongoose. They stopped talking when as he walked up.

"Hey Chief." One of them said.

"I need that mongoose. Radio Sergeant Johnson and tell him I need him and a squad here immediately." Master Chief hopped on the mongoose.

"What's out there, Chief?" A marine asked before Master Chief drove off.

"To be honest, I have no idea." Master Chief started up the mongoose and sped off.

Small branches slapped against his Mark IV armor as he sped through the jungle towards Echo's last known location. He hoped that Johnson was on his way to the camp with reinforcements. Whatever this was, if he couldn't take it down, he was going to bring it back. The tremors started up again, only they were no longer tremors, they were quakes. He was getting closer. Suddenly, something caught his eye. A figure launched into the air in the near distance. It propelled upwards, maybe five stories in the air. With the sun behind it, it was nothing more than a silhouette. Before he had a chance to even speculate as to who or what it was, it came spiraling towards him.

In a split second decision, he slammed on the breaks. The figure came crashing down in front of him. Standing there, buried up to his ankles in the Earth, stood Chuck Norris. Echo was right. He didn't believe it.

Concluded next week.
