Legendary Map Pack - Avalanche

Mar. 19 1:47 AM by Dylan Duarte

The second map from the Legendary Map Pack, Avalanche, has now been revealed!

Avalanche is a re-imagining of the Sidewinder map from the first Halo. While it's not a remake per say, it bears some very strong similarities. It also has a lot of vehicles, so consider my excitement meter through the roof. A very high roof. That's how much I love vehicles.

The story behind avalanche is that it's a large forerunner power plant on an under construction Halo installation. It pulls its power from within the ice.

There have been a few changes made from Sidewinder's design, including the addition of man cannons and the removal of ladders, which haven't appeared in multiplayer since the first Halo. Also, some hallways have been removed, encouraging the use of vehicles to get around, which there are now more of.

Remember the snow covered vehicles mentioned in last week's Bungie Watch? Those are from Avalanche! The map will also feature the first-ever multiplayer Hornet, but it has been dumbed down a bit from single player to even the odds.

You can check out a more detailed look at Avalanche over at Bungie.net.

I love Sidewinder. Definitely in my top 5 Halo maps.

Um.. by multiplayer hornet does he mean it is natural to the map and isn't just put in in forge

hmmm I wonder if the counter strike engine could create something like this lol

THIS MAP PACK IS GOING TO BE SWEET. I CAN'T WHAT TO GET IT.

The Hornet is actually part of the map.

Halo 2 had ladders on the Waterworks multiplayer level.
