This week's Bungie Weekly Update covers the upcoming Game Developer Conference in San Francisco, some changes made to Big Team Battle, and upgrades to Bungie.net. Hit the read link to read all about it.

Forgive my rough explanations of Bungie's GDC schedule. Some of the events get pretty technical in nature and go way over my head. I'm not going to go into details - mainly because I don't understand them and would just ruin them - so if you understand the technical side of games and want a full run down, please click over to Bungie.net.

Bungie's GDC lineup looks to include seminars on environmental design, programming AI, creating lighting, making Halo 3 run off of a DVD (for those without hard drives), matchmaking, creating cinematics, audio implementation in Halo 3, and a few more. It's definitely a full plate and those game geeks going to the conference have a lot to look forward to.

A problem that they're having with Big Team Battle is slow matchmaking. There are a few things causing this.

The first problem is the Party Restriction system, in trying to keep things fair, may slow down matchmaking while looking for evenly numbered teams. If you have a team of eight, you can only be matched up with another team of eight. Now, they've tweaked it so that a team of eight can get matched up against a team of seven and one solo player, and so on and so forth.

The other thing slowing it down is the mixed party system. If there is a ten-level difference between the players on your team, it's considered a mixed party and the game will searc for other mixed parties with a similar skill spread. They're currently searching for a way to solve this issue.

These changes are not part of the upcoming autoupdate.

Luke mentions that Moonbase Alpha, an upcoming map, is looking better and better. And next week, we'll actually get images of OK Corall!

Finally, they revamped the Inside Bungie page to make it easier to look for jobs, as well as the History of Bungie pages.
