Microsoft Closing Ensemble Studios After Halo Wars

Sep. 10 4:43 AM by Dylan Duarte

It looks like Microsoft will be shutting down Ensemble Studios once it complete its upcoming RTS Halo Wars.

Discussing the issue, Microsoft was quoted as saying "The team at Ensemble has made invaluable contributions to the games industry with their Age of Empires and Age of Mythology games and with the highly anticipated release of Halo Wars. This decision does not reflect at all on Ensembles talent or the quality of Halo Wars--in fact, many people who have had a chance to test drive Halo Wars agree that it is on track to being a fantastic game."

The leadership team at Ensemble will form a new development house and continue to work on projects with Microsoft Game Studios.

Microsoft claims that the closure is a "fiscally rooted decision" and they're working to find jobs for all Ensemble employees that don't move to the new developer.

Good luck, Ensemblers!

There's been some commotion down at Halopedia, cause has anyone seen the new kind of Wraith off to the right, and underneath the Pelican's lightbulb?

Why would they close Ensamble Studios? Why not give them all a chance to make a few more games that are better than Age of Empires?
